What is the difference between SAFe and Scrum for federal programs?
Scrum is a single-team framework — one Product Owner, one Scrum Master, one team. SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) coordinates multiple Scrum teams into Agile Release Trains (ARTs) of 50-125 people working on the same program or capability. Federal programs at CMS, DHS, or DoD scale almost always need SAFe because a single team cannot deliver enterprise systems. AGT’s SAFe Practice Consultants (SPC) facilitate PI planning events for 100+ person ARTs.
How long does an Agile transformation typically take at a federal agency?
Initial transformation (assessment through first pilot release) is typically 4-6 months. Scaling to a multi-team program (ART of 50-100 people) is typically 9-12 months. Full enterprise transformation across an agency component is typically 18-24 months. AGT’s MissionPath framework de-risks this with disciplined pilot-then-scale phasing.
Can AGT support Continuous ATO (cATO) alongside Agile delivery?
Yes. cATO is the right pattern for any Agile federal program. Do you offer Agile services on a fixed-price basis for federal programs?

Our sweet spot is 2-team to 10-ART programs ($500K to $50M annually). We do not pursue engagements below ~$250K where overhead exceeds value delivered, and we partner with larger primes for programs above $50M where we serve as the Agile transformation lead under a teaming agreement.
