When ownership varies,reporting must reconcile.
Complex, multi-partner projects create unique tax-planning and financial-reporting requirements. When multiple stakeholders contribute different ownership amounts, operational financial statements alone may not provide the information each partner and tax accountant needs for accurate tax reporting.
AGT supported a client managing projects with budgets ranging from approximately $15 million to $25 million and as many as seven participating partners. The engagement focused on creating a practical and cost-effective method for translating project financial information into structured reporting that reflected each partner’s respective ownership position and tax-reporting requirements.
One project. Multiple tax perspectives.
The client’s existing project reporting process was designed to support operational management, but it did not fully address the different income-tax reporting needs of individual partners.
Each project could involve up to seven partners contributing different amounts, creating additional complexity around the allocation of operating income, expenses, and additions to fixed assets.
The client needed a mechanism that could convert existing project reporting into information suitable for tax purposes, distribute financial activity appropriately based on ownership interests and tenancy-in-common arrangements, and provide each partner with clear, usable information without creating unnecessary administrative work.
A structured path from statement to tax-ready information
AGT developed a customized reporting and reconciliation approach designed around the client’s multi-partner project structure.
